18 Apr Immigration Judge Grants Bond to Lawful Permanent Resident in Deporatation Proceedings who is not Subject to Mandatory Detention
Our immigration attorneys were able to obtain a bond for a lawful permanent resident who was placed into removal proceedings for the violation of a protection order. Our client had been detained by the Department of Homeland security and held at York County Prison. The violation of a protection order is not one of the criminal grounds that subjects an alien to Mandatory Detention. As soon as we were retained as counsel we filed a Motion for Bond Redetermination with the Immigration Judge, a bond hearing was promptly scheduled, and the Immigration Judge granted bond. Our client’s family paid the bond and he was relesed from prison. A new court hearing will be scheduled for our client at the Philadelphia Immigration Court which now has jurisdiction over his case after his release from prison.
